Refining Your Scheduler Availability

A simple technique that lets you block scheduler time without blocking internal scheduling, set up multiple availability windows in a single day, and manage availability on-the-fly from your calendar.

The create/edit scheduler interface lets you set one availability window each day:

If you need more flexibility, here is a technique that will allow you to

  1. Create a new calendar

    In one of your Microsoft or Google Accounts, create a new calendar and name it something like “scheduler block.”

  2. Add the new calendar to your scheduler

    Edit your scheduler and add the calendar to the list of other calendars to check:

  3. Manage your availability directly from your calendar

    You can now block off time on your scheduler without blocking off your real calendar simply by adding a busy event to the calendar:

    Slots filled with gold events are blocked on the scheduler but not in the user’s primary calendar seen by internal colleagues.
